26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks

26/11 Mumbai Terror Attack
Salute the Martyrs of 26/11 Mumbai Terror attacks
Candle light processions, statues of martyrs, medals for martyrs, economic rehabilitation of the martyrs’ families and celebrating the anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks are not the proper salute to the martyrs in the true sense. This is due to the fact that 26/11 incident is unique from other terror attacks on India in many aspects. Terrorists used sea route for the first time to target India.  They stayed and stored their weapons in one of the oldest and most respectable hotels of India. For the first time in the Indian history, people shed tears for policemen who became martyrs.  One of the terrorist was arrested alive. All these have not happened in any other terror attack on India occurred in the past. Hence, preventing another 26/11 is the greatest salute of the nation to the martyrs of Mumbai terror attacks. Three major steps that can be taken in this direction are
Making the coast line across India safer and secured
26/11 has proved that all cities near the sea are not safe from terrorist attacks of same style. Hence, a special task force needs to be institutionalized to vigil the activities at different sea coasts across the country. This task force should be a combination of efficient police officers, intelligence people and a network of local informers. This can prevent terrorist attacks of Mumbai style up to a greater extent in any Indian city near the sea.
Need of Strict Anti-terrorism laws in India

Every law has a chance of misuse. It does not mean that anti-terrorism laws will not be formed or if formed will be repealed. At this juncture, we need the strictest anti-terrorism law. It will be the best salute to the martyrs of Mumbai attack.
Hang Kasab as soon as possible
There are enough evidences to prove that Kasab is a barbaric Pakistani Terrorist and has gunned down several people in the hotel. Hence, his assassination process should be accelerated as fast as possible. Spending crores of rupees of tax payers on his security is the worst insult to the martyrs of Mumbai attack.

Review of Blogger.com And Blogspot.com The Best Free Blog Host By Google

Blogger.com is one of the most popular blogging software programs available. There are two main reasons for its popularity. First, it's been around longer than just about any other blogging software, so bloggers are very familiar with it. Second, it's completely free and easy to use. Since Google purchased Blogger.com And Blogspot.com, the features and tools available to Blogger.com And Blogspot.com users continue to grow.

Pricing

Price is often a concern for bloggers. Blogger.com is completely free to users. All of the features and services available through Blogger.com are offered free-of-charge to all users.

While Blogger.com is offered to users for free, there is a small catch. Blogs created with Blogger.com display a bar at the top of the page with the Blogger logo and links to other blogs. Those blogs might not be appealing to you and may not be appropriate for your audience to link to. It's not impossible to remove this bar, but it can be difficult if you're not technically savvy.

Features

A key advantage in choosing Blogger.com as your blogging software is its versatility. Bloggers are not limited in the amount of traffic or storage space their blogs generate and use, and bloggers can create as many blogs as they want. Bloggers who use Blogger.com also have the ability to manipulate the templates available to them in order to create more unique blog themes.
Since Google bought Blogger.com, new features are introduced frequently such as the integration of Google's Picasa service to make posting of photos easier than ever.
Many bloggers love Blogger.com because it automatically integrates with Google AdSense, so bloggers can earn money from their blogs from day one. Additionally, Blogger.com users can edit their blogs' codes to include advertising from other companies as well.

Ease of Use

Blogger.com is often referred to as the easiest blogging software to start a new blog and the easiest to use for beginner bloggers, particularly when it comes to publishing posts and uploading images. Blogger.com also offers a wide variety of features. Unlike other blogging software programs where additional features are available at an extra charge or through external upload (which can be confusing for beginner bloggers), Blogger.com gives users easy access to the tools they need to customize their blogs to meet their needs.
While Blogger.com is easy to use, it does cause frustration for some users. Blogger.com is notorious for having system outages when bloggers cannot access their blogs. These outages can go from minor inconveniences to major problems depending on the purpose of your blog and your need for a certain amount of up-time.

Hosting Options

Blogger.com blogs that are hosted by Blogger.com are given URL extensions of '.blogspot.com'. The domain name a blogger chooses for their Blogger.com blog will precede '.blogspot.com' (for example, www.YourBlogName.blogspot.com). Unfortunately, a Blogspot extension has come to connote an amateur blog. Professional bloggers or more experienced bloggers who want to use Blogger.com as their blogging software often choose to use a different blog host which allows them to choose their own domain name without the Blogspot extension.
Bottom-Line
Blogger.com is a great option for beginner bloggers looking to get a blog launched quickly at no cost with a wide variety of features and the ability to include advertising to earn money from their blogs.

How To Change Or Recover Your Facebook Mobile Upload Email Address

Similar to Picasa, YouTube, Flickr and other social networking sites, Facebook offers a unique mobile upload email address to every Facebook user. This mobile upload email address is especially useful when you want to upload photos and videos to your Facebook account, directly from your mobile device. All you have to do is upload the files as email attachments and send the email to your secret Facebook mobile email address. Facebook will automatically identify your mobile upload address and the photos and videos will be posted to your profile. Pretty neat!
However, there can be some caveats of this mobile upload email address, if you forget it or accidentally share it with a friend or a third party website.
The other day I lost my mind and shared my unique mobile upload email address for Facebook with a third party site, in exchange of a free Facebook Tee shirt. After a few minutes, I discovered that the site is offering nothing and is purely a survey scam. Since I had already shared the mobile upload email address with the spammy survey site, they were frequently uploading random photos directly at my Facebook profile. This is a big security risk and here is how I found a way to deal with the situation.

Recover Or Reset Your Facebook Mobile Upload Email Address

The best way to prevent that spam site from uploading photos to my Facebook profile was to change or reset Facebook mobile upload email address. If you have forgotten your Facebook mobile email address or want to change it to a new one, here are the steps that needs to be done:
1. Login to your Facebook account and go to facebook.com/mobile
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will find your older Facebook mobile upload email address, as shown below:
facebook-mobile-upload-email-address
3. To change this and get a new mobile upload address, click the “Find out more” link.
4. This will open a small browser overlay window with some tips and instructions. To get your new Facebook mobile address and clear the last one, click on “refresh your upload email”

5. Click “OK” and you will be prompted to confirm your request.

6. Note that after resetting your personal upload email address for Facebook, you will no longer be able to upload photos, videos and post status updates to your Facebook account with that old address. You have to use the new address, which Facebook will provide once you hit “Reset”

7. Once Facebook has changed your personal upload email address, you should copy it to your address book or request Facebook to send it at your primary email address.
Please note that you can only reset your personal upload email address a limited number of times.

Using Facebook, Twitter And Google Plus From A Single Browser Tab – A Complete Guide

We have Facebook, Twitter and now there is Google Plus. How on earth are you going to manage all these social sites, parallely?
If you are already active on Facebook and Twitter, you know how difficult it is to manage both the social streams concurrently. Both Facebook and Twitter are so real time in nature that you just can’t afford to remain offline and check them at the end of the day, much like email. You have to participate in real time discussions, comment on posts, mentions, retweet stuff, and engage in the conversation.
Now here is another social network, which is also real time in nature and getting a lot of love from early adopters. You have already created your Google Plus profile but you are finding it extremely difficult to monitor these social sites and carry on with your routine workflow. There is no desktop client which lets you manage Facebook, Twitter, Google plus and other social sites, all at one place and neither there is an easy way to share posts on Google Plus, Facebook and Twitter – all from one place.
The problem is not with Facebook or Twitter.
In fact, the problem lies with Google Plus. The social site has not allowed support for any API’s which external applications or websites can use. Since Google Plus is still learning it’s baby steps, there seems to be no application which can migrate your entire Google Plus stream on a desktop app or third party online tool (TweetDeck for example).
Manage Twitter Facebook And Google Plus From One Place
However, here is a useful workaround that will let you use Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus, all from one place.

Using Google Plus, Facebook and Twitter – All From One Place

The idea is neat.
We can’t move our Google Plus stream and access it from a third party application or a desktop client. However, we can surely move our Facebook news feed and Twitter timeline using their API’s.
You have got it – a simple browser extension called startgoogleplus lets you use Facebook and Twitter directly from your Google Plus account. You can post status updates on Facebook, Google Plus and Twitter all from the same page and save yourself from the frustration of updating multiple social sites, recursively.
Following are the steps involved:
1. Go to StartGooglePlus.com and download their Chrome extension. Firefox users can grab the add-on here.
2. Click the extension button and login to your Facebook and Twitter accounts one by one. Next, grant all the necessary permissions to Facebook and Twitter that you want to use this extension to integrate your Facebook and Twitter accounts within your Google Plus account.
configure-facebook-twitter
3. All done. Your Twitter and Facebook accounts will be directly accessible from your Google Plus account and you can read the updates of these social sites from your Google Plus stream. There is more, you can post status updates on Facebook and Twitter from Google Plus, without having to open your Facebook or Twitter account at all.

Reading Your Facebook News Feed And Twitter Timeline from Google Plus

Login to Google Plus and you should see two new links in the left sidebar –  Facebook and Twitter.
Clicking them will load the respective timelines directly into Google Plus, so now you can check Facebook and Twitter updates directly from your Google Plus account. Your Facebook news feed and Twitter timeline will automatically load in the background and reading the updates on these social sites is now just a click away.
Here is how my Facebook news feed looks inside my Google Plus account:
facebook-on-google-plus
And here goes my Twitter timeline in Google Plus
twitter-on-google-plus
From the above two screenshots, observe that you can also comment on status updates or mention someone on Twitter directly from your Google Plus account. The only catch here is that unlike Twitter, the extension won’t be able to show you mention, retweets or direct messages.

Post Status Updates On Facebook And Twitter From Google Plus

Previously, we have discussed an automatic way to sync status updates from Google Plus to your Facebook account using Facebook mobile email address. While this method works great for all the updates, it might not be convenient on specific occasions.
On the other hand, the start Google Plus extension gives you much more control on how your Google Plus posts get shared on your Facebook and Twitter profiles. Whenever you want to share a specific post from Google Plus to Facebook or Twitter, all you have to do is choose the corresponding icons in the “compose message” box.
Update Facebook And Twitter From Google Plus
When you have posted your update on Google Plus, the same post will also be posted on your Facebook and Twitter accounts. This is a lifesaver and I have been searching for something like this since Google Plus was released. I can choose whether a specific link or update from Google Plus gets shared on my Facebook account but not on my Twitter profile.

Wait There Is More! You Can Also Check Your Gmail Account From Google Plus

This is icing on the cake.
Start Google Plus lets you check Gmail mails from Google Plus, without having to open your Gmail account in a new browser tab. The extension adds a sleek Gmail notification column at the left top of Google’s navigation menu bar, as shown below:
Check Gmail emails from Google Plus
Whenever, you receive a new email on your Gmail account that’s tied to your Google Plus profile, the Gmail icon will turn red and will show an unread count of Gmail emails. Clicking the icon will pull down a menu with the subject line and a brief preview of the message body. You cannot compose an email from Google Plus but the real time notifications are definitely going after.
All in all, this extension is by far one of the best utilities on Google Plus and we highly recommend giving Start Google Plus a spin. Tell us your thoughts and ideas in the comments below and be sure to read our Google Plus tips collection.

10 Tips to Spice up Your Drained Blogging Sense

From time to time, bloggers tend to hit the damned writer’s block or more specifically hit the content wall, can’t able to come out of creative rut in the process, and so running out of ideas on what to post – either new or probloggers, no exception!
writers-block
Let me comfort you that it’s not about questioning your talent as a blogger / writer to produce quality content, you might have published some awesome blog posts earlier, right?
So as a blogger, what can you do to rectify this situation?
Here are 10 exclusive tips that I believe are exceptional in helping you to fuel your mind and spice up your drained blogging sense.
blogging-ideas-inspiration
1. Ask for it
Simply ask for it! Reach out to your friends (online / IRL), and to your readers and ask them what they’d like you to write about.
Publish a blog post about this issue, post a poll on topics you can write, and a shout-out on Twitter / Facebook / Google+ – any sort of communication will be handy. Don’t be shy, feel shame or guilt about it. Be open and people out there always willing to help you.
2. Try different niche
Churning out post after post in your niche (topic of blogging) is the number one mistake most bloggers make. It might drain your mind-resource sooner than you think. Why don’t you expand your reach further, to other planes, to people with different tastes? Tiring eyes always look out for something unique.
Although it sounds like a displeasing idea, it’ll work. Say for example, if your niche is ‘photography’, take a shot on ‘blogging tips‘ occasionally (i.e. when you’re blogging about photography, right?). See what happens, move along and no harm done.
3. Open your blog for guest posting
While some folks blog for a living, most bloggers have other duties on top. So, when time might be a constraint for you, it’s time to invite and accept guest posting. This is a huge supply of content, and it’s not difficult to acquire either. Make a list of bloggers in your niche and are about your taste / level, whose writing you actually enjoy, and request them (through their blog’s contact form or through social networks) to author a guest post for you.
They’ll be thrilled, and glad to be able to reach your readers. They’ll strive hard to put up their best show, and not only will you have a nice post, but the guest authors cheerfully inform their readers about it, and bring their traffic to your site. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone, right?
4. Do an interview post
There are many considerations why interview posts are admirable stuff to have on your blog, but now let’s zoom in on the basic truth. It’s much simpler to think of a few questions to fire at your interviewee than it is to compose a complete post from thinking about the concept to publishing it, OK?
Moreover, it can be a brilliant way to hook up with fascinating people. As you publish some of those reputable interview posts, you even receive interview requests from few voluntary candidates. You won’t be surprised! It’s a win-win strategy.
5. Post a product review / case study
Deliberately pick your favorite gadget, an app, a blog / a website, or a startup – analyze it thoroughly and write a review / case study about it – why you like it or hate it, list pros or cons etc.
But, don’t be a false witness. Your blog readers will start to question your authenticity and the person or company in question may sue you. One more important thing: if you’re getting a paid-review offer, do list it in your blog post title as well as in the beginning of that post to avoid future complications.
6. State your success / failure story
Recall about an incidence or a time when everything went in your favor, and illustrate how you got it to happen in a blog post. Keep in mind, don’t just boast about walkovers — instead walk-through your readers how and what it takes to get there. Sprinkle morals learned for some added flavor.
Other than that, you may blog about your failures too. Who wouldn’t love to read it? It’s more compelling than the success side of you as people will like to learn the difficulties you encountered and how you try to tackle and overcome such hopeless situations. But, don’t stage the scenario, just write as it’s straight from your heart.
7. Watch what is trending and write about it
Explore Google Trends (Hot searches) and Twitter Trending Topics (aka hot hashtags) to find out what’s trending (hot off the press) and people looking for – bingo! You get the picture. Now pick your topic and blog your heart out.
If you’re in social bookmarking sites such as Stumbleupon and Reddit, good for you. Do stumble-upon for new contents and Reddit vote daily to get the mighty inspiration from the huge amount of new resources there. You can find both good (relevant) and bad content. Pick a hint or two from good ones and make it even better.
8. Use Google Alerts
For lazy bloggers like me (well even for busy ones), Google Alerts is a godsend service. You can check the interwebs for exciting new content through Google Alerts in which you’ll get email updates of the latest and appropriate Google results (web, news, blogs, discussions) derived from your pick of query or topic.
Make sure to customize how often you want to get the updates and the volume of each update (only the best results or all results). Create a Google alert, check your email updates on time and voila! You get some fresh inspiration to blog about.
9. Retrace your blog archives
Go through your dusted archives of good ol’ blog posts for some treasure hunt. By considering issues you earlier dealt and thoughts you’ve published, you can project outdated content into new standards and perhaps even catch few refreshing ideas.
Here are some ideas to get you started: You can shoot a contrasting course with a previously formed idea. Confront your own views. Delve deeper with a study adopts an aged topic and develops it to new extents. Moreover, you can convert your existing posts into bonus, contemporary media like webcastings (videos, podcasts) and charts / infographics if possible. This will give your readers enhanced background on the matters you are writing.
10. Lists / How-to’s
Believe me, I’m telling you this from experience – Lists / How to posts are easy to construct. And icing on the cake, it have a tendency to go viral. Sometimes you may irk yourself by writing something complicated, brain-dead boring, paragraphs mounting stuff – let alone your annoyed readers.
People love list posts as it’s usually presented in easy to interpret format with numbers and additional headings, and basically any sort of lists can do the trick – specially the Top 10 lists. Choose your topic, gather some details, begin with a number, and then built it up from there. Now think how I might compose this post! Follow KISS (Keep It Simple and Short) logic.
Oh! Similarly, people prefer how-to posts to uncover clear-cut advice to assist them tackle a problem and achieve a task. As there is plenty of problems and plenty of tough tasks out there, you don’t get surprised by the instant ideas converge for blogging. You can do effective how-to video posts too.

Conclusion:
The ultimate thing you can do when your blogging sense seems to be drained is to refresh and get motivated. Don’t let the creative rut (aka writer’s block) smack you. This may feel tricky when you’re facing at a desk full of wasted note papers with abysmal thoughts, wasted productivity, but still you can do it. Seek inspiration elsewhere whether it’s listening to music, going for a walk, reading your favorite book, watching a mind-blowing movie or doing meditation. Calm and uncluttered mind can do wonders.
Ah, forgot to tell you! Do write and save it in your blog drafts whenever you’ll come up with an idea and inspired by something. You never know, it’ll come handy when you need it most.
Of course, you can use the tips mentioned in the post, when you can’t really brain (?!) and don’t be in the mood for writing, let me assure you that with a bit of control you’ll be up to make an awesome blog post and wow your readers in no time.
All right, before wrapping up, I can feel I might have missed some key stuff you do to spice up your drained blogging sense.
What are they? Do share and let us thrill with it in the comments section!

5 Simple Principles for Becoming an Expert

There aren’t shortcuts.
Merely direct paths.
Most people don’t take them, because they frighten us.
Things that look like shortcuts are usually detours disguised as less work.
-Seth Godin
For the past month, I’ve been studying people who have become skilled and knowledgeable enough to be called “experts” in preparation for the launch of a new blog.
I’ve interviewed experts, spent time with them and have asked them whether shortcuts exist to becoming an expert (and received some incredible responses like the one from Seth Godin above). I’ve even read books by people who study success and expertise (expertologists?).

Part of me expected to find some secret shortcuts to becoming an expert, and part of me knew better. I’m most interested in how people gain expert-level skills and knowledge on multiple subjects quickly. Being a renaissance man has always appealed to me, as has getting very good at just a couple of things. Both types of expertise are as fascinating as they are useful.
Despite wanting to believe secrets and shortcuts to expertise exist, deep down I think I’ve always known what you probably know too: becoming an expert takes hard work, focus and dedication.
There are certainly ways to become an expert faster than traditional teaching might dictate, but there’s no getting around putting your time in.
The good news is, becoming an expert is much like changing a habit. The fact that secrets don’t exist is a good thing in my book, because we can stop wasting time searching for secrets and start making direct progress towards our goals.
Instead of looking for secrets, rely simply on these best practices for becoming an expert:
1. Realize expert is a relative term.
I’m a big believer in relative expertise. For most purposes, you don’t need to be the world’s foremost expert on something to benefit from what you know. Being expert enough means knowing enough or being good enough to accomplish your goals, however modest or grand they may be.
Someone once told me to think about expertise as a scale from one to ten, not as an absolute. If you’re a two or three on the scale, you’re expert enough to help people who are ones and twos. In fact, you might be better suited to helping beginners than a ten on the expert scale, because you’re closer to their level and better understand where they’re coming from.
2. Learn from books and experience.
There’s a time for learning and a time for practicing. A true expert needs to have both expertise (book learning) and experience (real-world practice).
For example, if you want to become a bodybuilder, all the reading you can possibly do won’t help you actually build muscle (unless they’re really heavy books). On the other hand, would-be bodybuilders who just jump into lifting weights without learning about best practices won’t know time-saving techniques and principles for optimum rep counts, resting time between sets, nutrition, supplements and more.
There’s a balance between learning and doing. Most people spend far too much time doing one or the other. If you’ve been mostly learning, it’s probably time to start doing. If you’ve long been practicing without the results you’re looking for, it’s time to learn more and time to focus, which brings us to point #3.
3. Focus.
Just as Leo advocates for changing habits, focus is a powerful ally for gaining expertise (especially in the beginning).
When you start learning something new, it’s easy to become daunted by everything you have to master to reach your final goal. Instead of just focusing on the very next step you need to take, it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the bigger picture.
Focus is critical for two reasons. First, it helps you pay attention to the task at hand so you don’t become paralyzed by the thought of everything to follow. Second, you have to focus so you can ignore all the possible distractions that are always waiting to pull you off your path.
You can follow Leo’s four steps for changing habits to focus on what you need to become an expert:
1. Start very small.
2. Do only one change at a time.
3. Be present and enjoy the activity (don’t focus on results).
4. Be grateful for every step you take.
4. Get outside help.
When I asked productivity coach Charlie Gilkey about whether shortcuts exist to becoming an expert, he pointed out another critical aspect of gaining expertise:
When you look at peak-performing experts, you’ll often see that they have either coaches, involved mentors, or a pack of growth-oriented friends that help them excel. You simply can’t gauge your performance as well as someone external can, and, past the “competent” stage of skill acquisition, it gets increasingly harder to both observe what you’re doing and find quick and easy answers as to how to improve.
At some point, learning and practicing will only get you so far. You need feedback from outsiders to uncover more opportunities for improvement.
5. Make mistakes.
Fear of failure might be the biggest opponent you’ll face on your road to learning new things.
Take something as simple as learning a language. As language hacking expert Benny Lewis explains, people who speak a language learn it. People who don’t speak a language don’t learn it. It’s simple: you need to learn and practice. What keeps many people from practicing a language is the fear of making mistakes and embarrassing themselves.
You have to be willing to make mistakes in order to learn and grow. That’s what practice is. The sooner you get comfortable with making mistakes, the quicker you’ll learn your new skill.
What’s on your wish list to learn and do?
Maybe there’s a skill you’re actively trying to get better at, or maybe you’ve been afraid to get started. In either case, try these five simple principles and see if you can make a breakthrough.
Try becoming a (relative) expert in something you’ve always wanted to learn or do. There are few things as rewarding and fun as acquiring new skills and knowledge that enrich your life.
Corbett Barr is founder of Expert Enough, where he helps people become experts of all levels. Read the full answers to the question he recently asked a group of experts: do shortcuts exist to becoming an expert?.

10 Tips for Quitting Smoking

I recently celebrated my one-year anniversary of quitting smoking. Well, of finally quitting … like most smokers, I had tried to quit many times and failed. But this quit stuck, and I’d like to share the top 10 things that made this quit successful when the others failed.
1. Commit Thyself Fully. In the quits that failed, I was only half into it. I told myself I wanted to quit, but I always felt in the back of my mind that I’d fail. I didn’t write anything down, I didn’t tell everybody (maybe my wife, but just her). This time, I wrote it down. I wrote down a plan. I blogged about it. I made a vow to my daughter. I told family and friends I was quitting. I went online and joined a quit forum. I had rewards. Many of these will be in the following tips, but the point is that I fully committed, and there was no turning back. I didn’t make it easy for myself to fail.
2. Make a Plan. You can’t just up and say, “I’m gonna quit today.” You have to prepare yourself. Plan it out. Have a system of rewards, a support system, a person to call if you’re in trouble. Write down what you’ll do when you get an urge. Print it out. Post it up on your wall, at home and at work. If you wait until you get the urge to figure out what you’re going to do, you’ve already lost. You have to be ready when those urges come.
3. Know Your Motivation. When the urge comes, your mind will rationalize. “What’s the harm?” And you’ll forget why you’re doing this. Know why you’re doing this BEFORE that urge comes. Is it for your kids? For your wife? For you health? So you can run? Because the girl you like doesn’t like smokers? Have a very good reason or reasons for quitting. List them out. Print them out. Put it on a wall. And remind yourself of those reasons every day, every urge.
4. Not One Puff, Ever (N.O.P.E.). The mind is a tricky thing. It will tell you that one cigarette won’t hurt. And it’s hard to argue with that logic, especially when you’re in the middle of an urge. And those urges are super hard to argue with. Don’t give in. Tell yourself, before the urges come, that you will not smoke a single puff, ever again. Because the truth is, that one puff WILL hurt. One puff leads to a second, and a third, and soon you’re not quitting, you’re smoking. Don’t fool yourself. A single puff will almost always lead to a recession. DO NOT TAKE A SINGLE PUFF!
5. Join a Forum. One of the things that helped the most in this quit was an online forum for quitters (quitsmoking.about.com) … you don’t feel so alone when you’re miserable. Misery loves company, after all. Go online, introduce yourself, get to know the others who are going through the exact same thing, post about your crappy experience, and read about others who are even worse than you. Best rule: Post Before You Smoke. If you set this rule and stick to it, you will make it through your urge. Others will talk you through it. And they’ll celebrate with you when you make it through your first day, day 2, 3, and 4, week 1 and beyond. It’s great fun.
6. Reward Yourself. Set up a plan for your rewards. Definitely reward yourself after the first day, and the second, and the third. You can do the fourth if you want, but definitely after Week 1 and Week2. And month 1, and month 2. And 6 months and a year. Make them good rewards, that you’ll look forward to: CDs, books, DVDs, T-shirts, shoes, a massage, a bike, a dinner out at your favorite restaurant, a hotel stay … whatever you can afford. Even better: take whatever you would have spent on smoking each day, and put it in a jar. This is your Rewards Jar. Go crazy! Celebrate your every success! You deserve it.
7. Delay. If you have an urge, wait. Do the following things: take 10 deep breaths. Drink water. Eat a snack (at first it was candy and gum, then I switched to healthier stuff like carrots and frozen grapes and pretzels). Call your support person. Post on your smoking cessation forum. Exercise. DO WHATEVER IT TAKES, BUT DELAY, DELAY, DELAY. You will make it through it, and the urge will go away. When it does, celebrate! Take it one urge at a time, and you can do it.
8. Replace Negative Habits with Positive Ones. What do you do when you’re stressed? If you currently react to stress with a cigarette, you’ll need to find something else to do. Deep breathing, self massage of my neck and shoulders, and exercise have worked wonders for me. Other habits, such as what you do first thing in the morning, or what you do in the car, or wherever you usually smoke, should be replaced with better, more positive ones. Running has been my best positive habit, altho I have a few others that replaced smoking.
9. Make it Through Hell Week, then Heck Week, and You’re Golden. The hardest part of quitting is the first two days. If you can get past that, you’ve passed the nicotine withdrawal stage, and the rest is mostly mental. But all of the first week is hell. Which is why it’s called Hell Week. After that, it begins to get easier. Second week is Heck Week, and is still difficult, but not nearly as hellish as the first. After that, it was smooth sailing for me. I just had to deal with an occasional strong urge, but the rest of the urges were light, and I felt confident I could make it through anything.
10. If You Fall, Get Up. And Learn From Your Mistakes. Yes, we all fail. That does not mean we are failures, or that we can never succeed. If you fall, it’s not the end of the world. Get up, brush yourself off, and try again. I failed numerous times before succeeding. But you know what? Each of those failures taught me something. Well, sometimes I repeated the same mistakes several times, but eventually I learned. Figure out what your obstacles to success are, and plan to overcome them in your next quit. And don’t wait a few months until your next quit. Give yourself a few days to plan and prepare, commit fully to it, and go for it!
BONUS TIP #11: THINK POSITIVE. This is the most important tip of all. I saved it for last. If you have a positive, can-do attitude, as corny as it may sound, you will succeed. Trust me. It works. Tell yourself that you can do it, and you will. Tell yourself that you can’t do it, and you definitely won’t. When things get rough, think positive! You CAN make it through the urge. You CAN make it through Hell Week. And you can. I did. So have millions of others. We are no better than you. (In my case, worse.)

Find Unicode Characters By Sketching their Shape

unicode character map
If you ever wish to insert special characters in your documents, tweets or your email signatures, the Character Map tool of Windows can help. You can access Character Map from either the Start Menu or by simply typing charmap in the Windows’ Run box.
Symbols like ☼ ♠ ♫ ♪ are part of standard fonts – like the Unicode version of Arial - but since these characters aren’t normally available on keyboards, you can drag them from the Character Map and drop into your document or email.
All Unicode characters are assigned a unique number – like 20B9 for the Rupee – but numbers are difficult to remember and, except for this Wikipedia page,  there’s no easy way to search Unicode characters by names. How do you quickly find a symbol in the Character Map that resembles the shape of a heart or a music note or a small diamond?
Enter Shape Catcher – this is a simple drawing board where you draw a rough outline of any symbol that you have in mind using your mouse and the tool will find all the Unicode characters that match that shape. And the tool does work most of the times.

Once you have found the Unicode symbol you were looking for, you can either copy it to the clipboard or drag it directly into your emails and web pages. There are 10,000+ Unicode characters in the Shape Catcher database except for Chinese, Japanese or Korean glyphs.
[*] Please note that Dingbat fonts like Webdings and Wingdings offer a much larger collection of symbols but should be avoided as most browser won’t be able to render those symbols.

Nokia Lumia 800 windows 7.5 Mango - Full phone specifications

Nokia Lumia 800 windows 7.5 Mango - Full phone specifications

The Nokia Lumia 800 is the first Windows Phone handset to spring from the Microsoft / Nokia tie-up announced in February, and we've got our hands on an early sample to check it out.

The Nokia Lumia 800 shares its exterior styling with the previously substantially less hyped Nokia N9, a Meego-based smartphone, although the screen size is reduced from 3.9" (854x480 pixels) to 3.7" (800x480 pixels) to conform to the Windows Phone spec list.

The CPU, however, increases from the 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 to the 1.4GHz MSM8255 Snapdragon/Scorpion which certainly helps add snap to the Windows Phone Mango OS.

The Nokia Lumia 800, although being the more expensive of the two Nokia Windows Phone offerings (the other being the budget Nokia Lumia 710) shares the Nokia N9's 16-bit AMOLED ClearBlack display whereas the Nokia Lumia 710 sports a 24-bit ClearBlack TFT.

This being said, even though the colour depth is theoretically deeper than in the Nokia Lumia 710, AMOLED screens are seen as better than the older TFT technology due to the more vivid colours and better contrast ratios.

Nokia lumia 800 review

Moving away from Nokia comparisons, the Lumia 800 also has to compete with the likes of the HTC Titan and HTC Radar Windows Mango phones. When we compare screen size we find the Nokia Lumia 800 feeling a little small with the HTC Radar and HTC Titan entering the fray with 3.8" and 4.7" screens respectively although all competitors are limited to the same 800x480 pixel resolution.

Obviously the iPhone has managed to be a success with a smaller screen at 3.5-inches, but the trend towards bigger displays is increasing all the time, and we have to say we're fans of those over four inches thanks to the improved internet and media experience.

This means that the pixel density on the Lumia 800 is a little sharper, but in our side by side comparisons we noted very little difference between the three, and even the Lumia 800 displaying text with a little less clarity.

When it comes to internal storage the Nokia Lumia 800 and HTC Titan are equal with 16GB of fixed internal storage, with the Nokia Lumia 710 and HTC Radar weighing in with 8GB a piece.

Based on the two manufacturer's product specs it soon becomes apparent that the Nokia Lumia 800 is intended to compete against the HTC Titan and the Nokia Lumia 710 with the HTC Radar.

When compared dimensionally with the HTC Titan (131.5mm x 70.7mm x 9.9mm and 160g) we note that the Nokia Lumia 800 (116.5mm x 61.2mm x 12.1mm and 142g) cuts a very slim profile, with a lighter yet reassuring weight.

The physical appearance of the Nokia Lumia 800 is a dream to observe and handle, with its smooth curves fitting snugly to the hand both with and without the protective case provided in the purchase packaging.

First impressions of the phone are mixed. If you're used to handling the current crop of super slim handsets doing the rounds in today's phone shops, you can't help but feel the Lumia 800 is a little on the chunky side, even compared to the iPhone 4S thanks to it being around 10% thicker.

However, that's not to say it isn't an attractive device, with its large 3.7-inch OLED screen pushed to the sides of the chassis and a cool curved polycarbonate shell gives the phone a very premium feel indeed.

Nokia has worked very hard on the unibody design here, making the battery inaccessible and using top-mounted flaps to cover the charging port and SIM slot - intriguingly, we're seeing a microSIM here, which seems to be the fashion for the next wave of smartphones.

It's a slightly odd system, and one that some will find a little bit difficult to get used to - but it does lend a certain sleekness to the design.

One area we can see getting consumers annoyed is on the back panel - as you can see the demo sample we tried was already scratched up, and the same thing has already begun happening on our review model.

The Nokia Lumia 800 is quite reasonably priced, costing nothing on as little as a £26 Orange or Vodafone contract with Carphone Warehouse compared with HTC Titan starting at £31 pm with Vodafone and £36 pm with Orange.

Limit Of SMS’s Raised From 100 To 200 Per Day By TRAI – Some Relief!?

There is a good news for the SMS lovers in India! Earlier TRAI had imposed a restriction of sending 100 text messages per day in lieu of ever increasing spam messages. However now, consumers will be able to send up-to 200 SMSes per day from a SIM, as against the earlier limit of 100 SMSes per day, imposed by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
The authority has received representations from some of the service providers and consumers to increase the limit of 100 SMSes per day per SIM. TRAI has considered these representations and decided to increase the limit of 100 SMSes per day per SIM to 200 SMSes per day per SIM, TRAI said in a statement today.
To deter unsolicited SMSes by telemarketing companies, TRAI had earlier restricted the number of non commercial SMSes that can be sent  from a SIM to 100. There was no restriction on commercial messages sent through telemarketing companies registered with TRAI. The new cap of 200 SMSes per sim per day will be effective from today i.e 1st November, 2011.
I sincerely hope that this amendment will not be used for pesky SMSes. TRAI should also address the issues of pesky calls and SMSes, which still disturb the consumers.

121 Million Internet Users In India By Year (2011) End – Numbers Growing!

After China and United States, India has maximum number of internet users – 112 million by September, 2011 and another approx. 9 million more would be added by year end. This is the result of survey carried out by IMRB and the Internet and Mobile Association of India.
The profile of users is evolving fast and there are more internet users in towns with a population of less than 5 lakh than in the top eight metros put together. School children makes up more than a fifth of the users and more than one in 10 belongs to the lowest strata of society.
The internet explosion is also rapidly opening up markets for online businesses, consumers and retailers. More and more companies are offering their wares online to save intermediary cuts and offering luxury to its customers to order the goods while sitting at home and office. E-commerce is growing as well at an unprecedented pace.
Already, world-renowned firms like Google, eBay, Yahoo and Facebook, have a large presence in India and they are delighted by the prospects before them. Even though the user base is vast, the total number of internet connections is just 14.7 million of which 11.87 million are broadband links. An average unlimited broadband plan costs around Rs. 700 per month, which is still too expensive for an ordinary person in India.
The survey found that more than 75% of internet usage is among school and college going students and those who have recently graduated. There is a stark contrast in the usage pattern between urban and rural users. An urban youth accesses the internet for emails, social networking and research about education. A rural youth uses the internet to listen to music, watch videos, download photos and email.
Mumbai has the highest number of internet users –  counting to 6.2 million, followed by Delhi/NCR – at 5 million then Kolkata – at 2.4 million and Chennai- 2.2 million. The survey has found that common access points of internet such as cyber cafes continue to be important, there has been a dramatic fall in access from cyber cafes. Further, 48% used the internet at least six times a week and 28% used it daily.
Keeping in view of population of India, we still have very less netizens compared to China who have 500 million users. The main stumbling block  for less penetration is high broadband rates and negligible infrastructure like electricity in villages and small towns. Telecom ministry should look into these problems and their project of Aakash tablet would be very successful if they could reach out to every nook and corner of the country.

20 tips for safe online shopping

20 tips for safe online shopping

1. If it seems too good to be true ...
... It's probably too good to be true! In the example above (a true story, the front door of a colleague Ziggo) the seller still seemed a decent fellow. In fact it was a criminal who has the key of the porch had managed to get hold of. This enabled him to agree that any address, and enter through the back to Auke's money run away. A brand new smart phone or games console for half the usual retail price (or in this case just launched a gadget for just slightly below the retail price!) Is unfortunately a really good reason to look fast. Be careful with the latest electronics for bargain prices. Correct to demand and supply sites like eBay or Marketplace.

2. Warning labels
There are several labels that guarantee a shop complies with relevant laws and regulations and that they properly deal with your privacy. One is the Webshop Hallmark. This is the Ministry of Economic Affairs certification marks, which also serves as trade association of online shops in the Netherlands. Another well-known mark is IDIS Guarantee. Make sure that you, by clicking on the label, or from the shop to the site of the label is headed.

3. Read shop reviews
Read reviews of the shop. However is that satisfied customers less or nothing make themselves heard, while an unhappy customer may personally volschrijft a forum. So do not be discouraged by a negative story. Find a shop which the majority is positive in several specialized websites (think kieskeurig.nl, kelkoo.nl, or vergelijk.nl tweakers.net).

4. Know who you do business
It's good to know that webshops same laws and rules as a normal shop. There's even a special Distance Selling Act. For example, it states that as a consumer entitled to seven working days cooling off period (trial period). It is always good to find out whether you have a formal business dealing. Some tips to look for:

The shop has one or more shops where you can walk inside? (For example, our sales that Ziggo, the Ziggo Studios, or one of our Customer Counters)
Check kvk.nl whether the shop is registered with the Chamber of Commerce
Check the label (you get after clicking on the logo or the site of the label?)

5. Pay securely
When you purchase a remote going to do, it is wise to use PayPal. This is called an intermediary between buyer and seller. If you have problems with a purchase or delivery, you can ask PayPal to intervene. This way you can in extreme cases, without a struggle with recalcitrant or fraudulent seller get your money back. It is important to any complaints within the deadline with PayPal reports. Otherwise you risk nothing they can do for you.

6. Warranty
A common argument for not buying online is "for the warranty, I would prefer to shop around the corner. Yet you as a consumer including online purchases just right to handle defects or other problems, without you it cost to make. Search www.consuwijzer.nl a look at the words "shop guarantee".

7. Pick up as an interim solution
Do you still excited about what a great buy at a shop to do? Then pick a good interim solution. So you can take advantage of the generally lower prices in a shop and in many cases still old-fashioned pay upon receipt.

8. Avoid spam emails – Companies should only be emailing you with offers if you’ve subscribed to their newsletter, or have actively opted to receive them. If you get unsolicited mail then just delete it, as it could be a scammer posing as that company, just to get your bank details. If you do like the look of an offer, delete the email and visit the company’s website in your browser instead – that way you’ll find out if it’s for real.

9. Check for encryption – When it comes to entering your card details, address or anything sensitive about yourself, there’s one simple check you should make. The web address (URL) should begin with https://, as opposed to http://. The added ‘s’ means that it is secure, and encrypted by software that skews your details. This means it’s only available to your eyes, and the computer at the other end. If the site is not encrypted, then anyone can access the information.

10. Check for company information – all reputable companies will be proud to show what they’re all about, where they come from and how they can be contacted. At the bottom of the home page you should see links to pages like ‘About Us’ and ‘Privacy Policy’. They should also have a toll free customer service phone line, which shows they’re a grounded company, and not afraid to be contacted.
11. Check for approval certificates – These come from third party organizations, such as BBBOnline and TRUSTe and will be shown as a logo, or at the bottom of the homepage. Click the logo to visit their site, or google the name to see if it is an authentic certificate of safety and approval.
12. Look up the company – you can do this on websites that track well known (and lesser known) scammers, and report them worldwide. If you know of any phishing scams, or the like, you can contribute to these sites and stop others being caught out too. There are forums, websites and email newsletters available, and we recommend Scam.com for the latest news.
13. Listen to your instincts – once you’ve been shopping online for a while you’ll get to know what a reputable company’s website looks like. If something seems amiss, even if you can’t put your finger on it, then get out of there and do some background research. A decent company will hire a content writer that doesn’t make any spelling or grammatical mistakes, and they won’t need to have hundreds of adverts hanging around either.
14. Check shopping portals and communities – Take CouponSherpa for example: you can search the entire site for the shop name, and instantly find genuine consumer votes and ratings. If there’s nothing to be found, then you should be wary. This is a big site dedicated to online shopping, and it’s also moderated, so the information you find there is genuine.

15. Make use of your antivirus software – most antivirus software packages will offer safety for online shopping, and this is important. Pop ups on less-reputable sites could infect your computer, and without your knowing could view your credit details when you pay for an item..
If you’re in the market for new software and you’re a keen online shopper, go for one that offers the following:
  • Assessment of a site’s reliability
  • Alerts about possible privacy breaches
  • Protection against spam and phishing scams
  • Misleading advertising and offers
16. Be smart with your deals – finding a great money-off bargain is exciting, but don’t get carried away and click lots of links. You should firstly only use coupons that are from a reliable source (like a long running blog, or a solid reputable directory or a social voting site we mentioned above). If you collect coupons for a while, you will soon identify those reliable source; for me these long have been the following two: FreeShipping.org (my favorite deal! free shipping!) and Promo Codes (US-only). The best kinds of coupons are simply coupon codes, which you copy into a box at the checkout.
17. Last but not least, Google it – if you still can’t work out if a website or a coupon is ‘for real’ then just Google the name. Type keywords like ‘scam’ or ‘review’ after it to see if anything incriminating comes up. A reputable site should have honest reviews, indicating no problems with privacy.
If you’ve got any smart ways to ensure your safety when you’re shopping online then please let us know. Drop a comment in the box below!

There are a couple of simple but important steps you may take to ensure that your Facebook account is always safe and secure from hackers.
For instance, you may associate a phone number to your account and Facebook will send a text message whenever someone logs into your Facebook account from a new location or from another computer. It also helps if you can add an alternate email address to your Facebook account as a backup in case you lose access to the primary email address.
